“The Couple Was Pretty Grateful”

While working patrol, I was looking for a suspect with a felony warrant. It was about 0600 hours, dark, rainy and cold. I was parked down the street, staking out his house, when a nice couple approached me and asked for help. They lived on the same street and had stepped outside in their pajamas to give their dogs a quick break. When they went to go back inside, they discovered they were locked out of their house. I was able to pick the lock on their front door fairly quickly. The couple was pretty grateful.
