Combination Padlocks- Bypassing

specialized entry training

Combination locks are everywhere. It would be great to pick them, but most don’t even have a keyway to insert a key (or pick). In those cases, we’re going to bypass them. These locks are constantly changing design. We’ll teach you how to spot the changes and use the correct bypass. As a matter of fact, we have a video in the Restricted Section on defeating a couple of different versions of this very common lock.

Lock Bypassing

There are occasions when picking a lock isn’t the most field expedient method of entry. You’ll learn how to immediately identify those circumstances and instead, use a bypass technique. Bypass instruction will include the damage-free defeat of:

  • Electronic locks
  • Magnetic locks
  • Keypads
  • Mechanical pushbutton locks
  • Consumer-grade safes and strongboxes
  • Vehicles
  • Combination locks
  • Commercial doors
  • Commercial hardware
  • Hotel room doors
  • Garage doors
  • Residential knob locks, deadbolts, padlocks, gates, lever handles and many, many more.

Lock Picking

Your lock picking training will consist of extensive hands-on practice of over 150 locks. This is true saturation training; nearly the entire time you’re in class, you’ll have locks and lock picks in your hands. The range of locks include a cross section of locking devices you’re going to encounter in the field:

  • Knob locks,
  • Deadbolts
  • Padlocks
  • Vehicles
  • Elevator control panels
  • Strongboxes
  • File cabinets, aircraft and many, many more

You’ll learn to identify the various lock brands, including their strengths, weaknesses and where they’re typically found. Since lock picking is a critical component of our course, you’ll be knowledgable on selecting the correct pick and more importantly, it’s correct usage. Picking locks is only difficult if you start off on the wrong foot. We make sure you’re a success.

We’ll also cover:

  • Making your own custom tools as well as the use of commercially available tools
  • Acquiring working keys
  • Physical security assessment prior to entry
  • Ethical and legal considerations

But why would you need any of these skills in the first place? Check out some of the Frequently Asked Questions.
